OIL DRILLING STARCH
Starch in oil drilling increases viscosity and reduce fluid loss in water based mud filtration. It is effectively working as drilling fluid stabilizer as well as fluid loss reducer when drilling evaporates formation. Drilling starch is Nonionic and effective in high salinity and high hardness salts. It reduces clay particle and stabilize reactive formulations.

The Smart Starch Solution for Every Industry.
Oil drilling starch is a nonionic polymer used in water-based drilling fluids to increase viscosity, reduce fluid loss, and stabilize drilling operations in high-salinity and high-hardness conditions.
It helps in:
Reducing filtration rate in water-based drilling fluids
Improving borehole stability
Flocculating dispersed drill cuttings in clear water drilling
Stabilizing reactive formationsReducing clay particle swelling
The common grades include:
High-temperature starch
Low-temperature starch
Carboxymethyl starch (CMS)
It reduces water loss, enhances viscosity, and prevents formation collapse, ensuring smooth and stable drilling operations, especially in evaporative formations.
It maintains low viscosity (max 18–20 Cps in salt water), low filtrate volume (max 10 ml), and no residue greater than 2000 µm, ensuring efficient performance in drilling operations.
